Obituary

James Monroe Tolliver, 70, of Stonewall, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was born July 13, 1945 in Marion County, Indiana to Ray and Leona Tolliver.

James is survived by his wife Karen of 41 years; four children Mandy (Denny) Griggs, Shaun (Char) Tolliver, Sophia Tolliver, and Kyle Tolliver; grandchildren Wyatt Griggs, Travis Griggs, and Chloe Tolliver; his brother Buddy Tolliver, step-sister Phyllis , twin brother John Tolliver, and many more family and friends.

James was a talented landscape painter, powerful singer in church, and loved cars.  He worked for years as a machinist at Indiana Gearworks through its transition into Allison Manufacturing in Indiana and later retired from a 30 year career at General Motors in Shreveport.  As a young man he served in the Army National Guard in 1966 then served in the Navy from 1967 through 1968 and is known for his many stories from that time.

Funeral services for James will be held at Grand Cane United Methodist Church in Grand Cane, LA on Thursday, May 5th at 11:00 AM with the visitation at 10:00 AM til service. Flowers may be sent to Auld's Funeral Home at 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71115.
