Obituary

James L. (Jim) Nallin passed away June 18, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born July 8, l942 to William and Evalyn Nallin.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, Richard and his parents. He is
survived by his wife, Janis; son, Brian and wife, Leslie; grandson Aaron and wife Victoria; grandson Cole; granddaughter Shelby and great granddaughter, Norah Belle.
Jim gradutated in 1961 from Fair Park High School and spent a number of years in the car business, first at Holmes Pontiac and later as owner of Nallin Motor Company.
In October of 1974 he made the decision to dedicate his life to others through law enforcement and became a deputy with the Caddo Parish Sheriff Department.
In 1980 he earned the honor of "Law Enforcement Officer of the Year".
Sadly, before being presented with the award, he was shot multiple times when responding to an armed robbery. What would have been a career ending for many, was merely a "part of the journey" for him and after 99 days he returned to active duty.  He retired in 1988 and October of that year was granted the American Law Enforcement
Association, Legend of Honor Award and was inducted into the Law Enforcement Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida.
One of his greatest pleasures and accomplishments was coaching Little
League Baseball with his friends, Rick Semon and Phillip Cancilleri. He treasured the time he worked with these young boys and loved the fact that he played even a small part in making them into the men they
are today.
There will be a visitation at the family home at 3386 Jon Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana
on Wednesday, June 21 from 5 to 7pm and then Jim will make his final trip to his beloved Arkansas, his happy place, and rest on the mountain of Hideaway Farm Lane with his precious friends, James and
Trisha Laney.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his life long friend, who just happened to be his primary care physician, Dr. David Henry. Also, Dr. Mike Sewell who cared for Jim during his stay at Willis Knighton Bossier and facilitated the move to Aime Hospice. To the staff of Aime Hospice, there are no words. The care and compassion
for Jim and the family during his last days,  was beyond awesome and we will be forever grateful.
