Survived by wife Tanya Melton, sons Mike Melton, wife Doreen of Gilbert, Az., Mark Melton of Bossier City, La. Shane Eason of Plain Dealing, La., Cliff Eason, wife Tina of Sherwood, Or. Sister Ester Bolton of Sterling, NY, brother Edward Barnhart, wife Ruby of Sheridan, Ar. Brother-in-laws Ricky, Terry, Sean DeMoss, sister-in-law Deborah Smith. Grand children, Cody Todd, Harley, Xander, Makaela, Lilly, Ziva.

Predeceased by parents, David Melton, Laura Barnhart, Charlie Barnhart, sister Hazel Womack.

With merits of success and achievements documented on a state and federal level, Sonny spent his career in the trucking industry. His natural ability to teach included his leadership ruled by fairness, grace and a passion for those he touched. He enjoyed fishing, family, and the great outdoors. .

The family would like to thank the staff of Whispering Pines Community Care Center and Southern Care Hospice for the their loving, generous acts of care.

An intimate celebration of life will be planned by family. In his honor, the family request a memorial gift to Whispering Pines Community Center or Alzheimer's Association.
