Obituary

A selfless devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Someone you could trust with your life.

Preceded in death by his father, Earl Delbert Mason; mother, Helen Rose Glass-Mason; sister, Diane Mason-Margheim.

He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Crew Chief at Barksdale Air Force Base in 2004 after 26 years and 26 days of service. He named his plane, a KC-135R, tail#3540, "Mad Max". Jim savored flying all over the world and always returned home with interesting and funny stories, and beautiful, thoughtful gifts.

After Jim retired from active duty he stayed on with the D.O.D. working for the 307 th Maintenance Group. He was elated to be close to the flight line again, watching and hearing the B-52 touch and go. He fully retired in February 2021.

He enjoyed riding his H-D motorcycle and wrenching on his 19780 Plymouth Belvedere. He liked to assemble models of Mopar muscle cars and military aircraft, and handcrafted leather goods and knives.

Jim loved being a Dad. He treasured his babies; Jeremiah, Daniel, Janice, and David. He adored his fur babies Shiloh, Makarov, Annie, and Baby the cat.

Jeremiah and Selina and their sons; Kyle and Logan Mason; Daniel and Saki and their children Andrew, Charlie, and Minami Dump.

Janice Muellenberg, David Mason and his large fur baby tiger, and Jade Mason-Tyson.

He was sweet and gentle to me, his wife of 36 years, Christine Mason. He held the door for me, held my hand, called me sweetie, sweetheart, said thank you, and occasionally called me Mrs. Fussybottom in a British accent. He wiped my tears and watched me blow my nose. He would throw the Kleenex away and hand me more. He was a gentleman with a gentle soul and spirit. A good, descent man.

I'm the lucky one to be his wife of 36 years. Thank you, my love, my honey bear. I will always love you, and only you.
