James B.W. Lique, 55, passed away on October 10, 2024, in Shreveport, LA. Born on October 2, 1969 in Milford CT, James lived a life marked by dedication to his community, a passion for craftsmanship, and loyalty to his country.
James graduated from Philadelphia High School (Mississippi)and went on to serve in the US Navy for 4 years and Army National Guard for 17 years, with deployments to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. His military service was characterized by a commitment to excellence and camaraderie.
In his professional life, James was known as a friendly and attentive floor manager at Eldorado and Bally's Casino, where he enjoyed interacting with people from all walks of life. He also applied his technical skills at Clark's Custom Guns as a machinist, where he crafted impressive firearms, combining his love for precision with creative flair.
Apart from his professional and military careers, James was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was initiated, passed and raised at Atkins lodge #266 in Taylortown Louisiana. James was a member of several degree groups and assisted in many degrees that brought good men into the fold and was very respected among his peers. He was a member of The El Karuba shrine and the Broadmoor lodge of the order of the Eastern Star and will be missed by all that knew him.
Hobbies included varied group activities. He was particularly fond of Magic The Gathering, which he played regularly at Gamers XP. James also enjoyed working on cars, customizing firearms, and taking nature walks, reflecting his diverse interests and skills.
James is survived by his mother, Linda (Doug) Snell; brother, Roger and sister-in-law Lisa Lique; nephew, Brice Lique; stepmother, Joyce (Don) Butts; step-nieces, Leighann Compton and Tiffany Compton; aunts, Karen Cassidy, Judy Anderson, and Ellen Scheiss ; stepbrothers Lee Anthony and Alan Anthony; and stepsister Laura Anthony. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lique; and uncle, Kevin Lique.
Services to honor James's life will be held at Auld Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Hwy, Shreveport LA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Christus Hospital or LSU Oschner Hospital, who provided critical care to him and for so many others.
