James Ervin Hughes

Memorial service honoring James Ervin Hughes will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Sarepta Community Building in Sarepta, LA with Bro. Larry Earhart officiating.

James Ervin Hughes was born on July 6, 1947 to James L. And Dolly Hughes in Sarepta, LA, and passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in his home in Cullen, LA. James was a Veteran of the Army. He was one of the last of the Old School Truck Drivers named "Blue Dog", he drove a semi truck half his life. He was a mechanic all his life, serving the local community and other people that would drive from far away just for him to fix their vehicles or semi trucks thanks to customers word of mouth. He loved to pick and aggravate his family and friends, a special trait passed down through the Hughes family.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Aleta Hughes of Cullen, LA; sons, Tim (Donna) Hughes of Bloomburg, TX, Chad (Lori) Hughes of Shongaloo, LA; daughters, Melissa (Francisco) Zuniga of Springhill, LA, Jennifer Jones of Taylor, AR; grandkids, Tiffany (Brian) Rupp, Dakota Hughes, Abby Gore, Justin, Skylar & Leslie Elkins, Joseph, Zachary & Dylan Peace; great grandkids, Rosalie Hughes, Ainzley Talley, Trenton & Xander Elkins, Ayden, Kyran, Wyatt, Kaden, LeAnna, Harper & Brantley Peace; brothers, Jim "Yogi" (Margie) Hughes of Atlanta, TX, David (Beverly) Hughes of Atlanta, TX.; sisters, Marilyn Dyar of Atlanta, TX, Mary Hughes of Taylor, AR; and a host of other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Linda Robinson Hughes; his parents James L. and Dolly Hughes; sister, Patsy Hughes.
