Greenwood, LA – James Richard "Buzzy" Hemphill, 82, traded his Delta wings for his Angel wings Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was affectionately nicknamed "Buzzy" by his father as a child a nickname that remained with him throughout his life. He was retired from Delta Airlines and spent his retirement tinkering and spending time on the resale circuit where he became known as "The Toolman".
James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vivian Elaine Hemphill of Greenwood, La. Two daughters, Tanya Dixon of Greenwood, La and Melinda Hemphill of Euless, TX. Three grandchildren who were the light of his life, Antay Parker and husband George, Austin Pond and Alexis "Lexie" Pond all of Euless, Tx and two great-grandchildren Shawn David Parker and Peyton Parker of Euless, TX. Two Sisters Janette Hammons of Quitman, La and Connie Hemphill of Winnfield, La and brother Bobby Goins. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Eugene Hemphill and Fairy Belle Atwell Hemphill, step-mother Lorene Goins, brothers Charlie Rueben Hemphill, Gary Dale Hemphill and Marshall Gene Hemphill, sisters Madge Asselta, Jacqueline Leach, Patsy Buxton and Gloria Dawn Norred.
Internment will be at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Kiethville, La. Monday, January 29, 2018 at 12 noon officiated by members of the Patriot Guard and United States Honor Guard.
