IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Doyle
Bevel
August 2, 1944 – April 30, 2021
On Friday, April 30th, James "Jim" Doyle Bevel, beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, son, brother and friend passed away at age 76 in Shreveport Louisiana.
Jim was born on August 2nd, 1944 in Guntersville Alabama. He was a very protective and loving brother to his 7 brothers and sisters and had a very close relationship with his mother. After serving in the Air Force he made his home in Shreveport Louisiana where he worked as a plumbing contractor and business owner of Mid South Plumbing and Bevel Plumbing for over 48 years while raising two sons Donald and Christopher Bevel.
Jim had a passion for cooking and hosting friends and family. There was always something on the grill, smoker or stovetop and was ready with a new joke to make you laugh. He loved football and supporting LSU and the Saints. He also enjoyed attending auctions and repurposing things. One look in his plumbing storage space and you could see the evidence of many auctions gone by but he always had what you were looking for! Jim was known for his quick wit and his willingness to help others. One of his greatest joys was caring for his family and friends. Every call or departure ended with "let me know if I can help you".
He is survived by his son and daughter in law Donald Keith and Christie Bevel of Senegal West Africa, three grandchildren, Cody and Lindsey Crump of Houston Texas, Parker Bevel of Monterrey Louisiana, Emma Bevel of Senegal West Africa and one great grandson Noah Crump of Houston Texas. He is also survived by his siblings Billy Bevel, Travis and wife Mary Bevel, Jona Crow and Becky and husband Keith Cummings as well as many nieces and nephews that adored him. He had many friends that he loved and was loved well in return. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Bevel, his son Christopher Bevel, his father Albert Bevel, his stepfather Frank Fann and his mother Mary Elizabeth Bevel Fann, sister Debra Corum, sister in law Donna Bevel and brothers David and Steve Fann.
We are comforted in knowing that his home-going was a celebration and that he is eternally healed and free from the physical limitations of his earthly body.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 from 5-8 pm at Aulds Funeral Home at 7849 East Kings Hwy. Graveside service will be Friday the 7th at 11am at the Veterans Cemetery in Keithville Louisiana
Honorary pallbearers are Cody Crump, Parker Bevel, Danny Farmer, Charles Allum, Lee Kelly, Arthur Moseley and Josh Nickels. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church 3820 Old Mooringsport Rd. Shreveport La 71107.
