With a heavy heart we announce the passing of James Douglas Berney.  James went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He was born on August 11, 1972, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

James was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend.  He was a God loving and free-spirited individual. He always lived his life to the fullest and in the moment. He liked riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his friends. He loved his family and was always up to something. He liked living life on the edge and took life as it came. He would do anything for the ones he loved and cared about. The family loves him and will miss him deeply. After Lou passed James stated that he didn't want to be mourned over, he said he would prefer us to celebrate his life with joy, love and laughs, and to remember the little things in life are what make life whole.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Syndia Lou Womack; and his brother, Donald Ray Cruse.

He is survived by his daughter, Jewell Berney; brothers, Ronald Dale Cruse and Joseph Wayne Cruse; sister-in-law, April Cruse; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Blanchard Church of the Nazarene, 251 North Main Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71107.  All are welcome to join us for the celebration of James's life.
