IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jackie
Smith
February 24, 1955 – January 31, 2022
Jackie Smith passed away the evening of Monday, January 31. He was born and raised in Winnsboro, Louisiana on February 24, 1955, to Jack and Laverne Smith. Jackie was always exploring the outdoors and seeking adventure. Fondly known as "Twig" by friends and family, he hunted, fished, hiked, and traveled in his younger years. He was an animal lover his whole life, so it wouldn't be a surprise that some kind of furry or scaly creature was accompanying him along the way. These outdoor adventures were often the settings of his action-packed stories he was known for telling. Through these stories, Jackie was able to share his love of history and have every listener in the room laughing. After working offshore for a bit, Jackie moved to Shreveport in his 20s and became a lifelong Commercial Development Technician with the local cable company. There, he built some lifelong friendships and became the "Cable Man" we all knew and loved. He married his loving wife, Patti (McLellan) 32 years ago, and together they raised three daughters, Jaclyn (Travis) Wilson of Bossier City, LA, Brittany (Jamie) Garcia of Topeka, KS, and Emily Downey of Minden, LA. He is survived by 8 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, four brothers and a sister: Rodger (Rita) of Gilbert, LA, Ricky (Wanda) of Natchez, MS, Vickie Williams (David) of Winnsboro, LA, and Phillip (Theresia) of The Woodlands, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Laverne Smith, nephew Daniel, and great-nephew Hunter.
Per his wishes, Jackie has been cremated, and the family will be hosting a celebration of life ceremony later in the spring.
