Jack Ross February 15,1930-September 26, 2015. Following a valiant fight, Jack Ross left to join his Savior and loved ones, including his wife, Anna Joy Fortson Ross, son, Jerrell Lawson Ross, parents, Inas and Kate Ross, and brother Billy. Left with loving memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Jacquie and Keith Cottrill, their sons, Ross Cottrill and wife Kimberly and Jack Cottrill, daughter-in-law, Marie Ducote Comeaux and granddaughters Whitney, Olivia and Julia Ross, his brother, Cecil Ross, wife Maryann and nephews Sid, Dana and Eric Ross. Raised in Chipley, GA, Jack joined the Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale where he met and married Joy Fortson. Following a tour in Korea, he and Joy returned to Shreveport, and he began a lifelong career in oil and gas, working with United Gas, Union Producing, and Penzoil, during which time he became a Certified Petroleum Landman. In 1971, he was transferred to Lafayette which became home. After retirement, they began Innovative Ventures and Jack continued working in oil and gas as a contractor. He mentored a number of landmen, including his grandson Ross and son-in-law, Keith, who joined him in the family business. It also gave him great pride to be in business with his son Jerrell, managing the Dulles Street Carwash as partners for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time working with Jerrell and visiting with customers. But, his real love was for his wife, children and grandchildren. He doted on his grandsons and granddaughters, "the girls". The family would like to thank Dr. William Maranto, everyone at Brookdale Bossier for taking care of him with love and affection, Home Instead, and his hospice team from Amedisys. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or Bethany Baptist Church, 285 Bethany Church Rd, Pine Mountain, GA 31822. Family and friends will gather to share memories in Lafayette, Friday, Oct. 2, between 3 and 6 pm.
