Jack W. Dyess, 86, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jack was born January 8, 1937. He grew up in Marthaville, Louisiana and moved to Shreveport with his family when he was ten years old. Jack graduated in 1955 from Fair Park High School in Shreveport. His family owned and ran the Shanty Club on Greenwood Road in Shreveport. Jack served in the Army National Guard and was a self-employed entrepreneur with real estate properties and other business ventures. He enjoyed and was a member of the AKC and had two champion Norwegian Elkhounds. Jack spent a lot of time visiting his many friends and family members. He taught many people and all his grandchildren how to swim, play chess, and loved to visit the local Veteran's homes. Jack won many medals in the Senior Olympics in the early to mid 2000's. He also was part of a local chess club and followed the karaoke circuit. Jack will be dearly missed and always remembered for his love of family and being together with family. Jack received Christ at an early age and is now with his heavenly Father.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, W. O. Dyess and Nobia Strahan Dyess. He is survived by the love of his life for over 55 years, wife, Pat Dyess, daughter, Laura Richardson (Mike), son, Jason W. Dyess (Connie), daughter, Nobia Quinn (Don). Grandchildren, Reagan Turner, Colton Turner, Maggie Dyess, Jackson Dyess, Jonathan Dyess, Kendall Richardson, Kamryn Richardson, Sean Quinn, Kyle Quinn, and great-grandson Brantley Turner.
Jack requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Jack's friends and loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana 71115, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
