Shreveport, LA - Hazel Nissen Bothel was born to Lula Wilkerson Nissen and Mathias "Pete" Nissen on November 26, 1924 in Shreveport, La. and she passed away on April 14, 2014. She resided in Shreveport, La. Almost all of her life. She married Frank Bothel in 1942 and they had 3 sons. Hazel worked early on in the marriage, but later became a stay at home mother. After her children left the house, she volunteered at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and eventually became an employee of the facility and retired from there. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Bobby Nissen and Louis "Sonny" Nissen. She is survived by her sons, David Bothel and wife, Bobbie from Colorado Springs, Co., Mike Bothel, and wife Debbie from Princeton, La., Richard Bothel and wife Cherri from Shreveport, La., and her grandchildren, Jamie, Shannon, Frank, Paul, Jennifer, Colt, Matt and Madalyn, along with numerous great grandchildren. She was an extremely loving and giving person, who will be missed by her family, but is with her other family in heaven. Services for Mrs. Bothel will be at the Aulds Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 17.
