Harry Dwain Odell

April 12, 1942 – October 17,2020

Born at home on April 12,1942 in Bluefield, WV he was the son of the late Richard Harold Odell Sr. and Callie Ethel Puckett Odell.

He graduated from Bluefield High School in 1960 where he made lifelong friends and formed his band "The Jades". He married the love of his life, Joan Haynes on February 8,1964 and started working for the family at W & H Contracting Co. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in February of 1974. He would then go on to start his own business, The Broken Bread Deli and HIS Co., meant to be a Christian beacon in the community.  In August of 1980 he relocated his family to Monroe, LA where he worked in construction, Milner Motors, and Scott Equipment Sales. Always loving to learn he attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University.

In 1997 he and his wife moved to Shreveport, LA to be close to their children and grandchildren. Where he worked with his son Brian's lawn care business and for Willis Knighton Health Systems until he retired.

He was always the life of the party, loved dancing and loved Music.  He loved Bluefield HS Football and he loved his WV Mountaineers.

He was a lover of people and he went out of his way to help everyday people and his neighbors. He was a builder and fixer of all things and took delight in passing on his skills to his son, sons in law and grandchildren. He loved life and never let life's difficulties and health issues slow him down.

He always put his family first, attending all the milestone events, school and sports activities, and enjoyed his role as grandkid "Chauffeur". His children and grandchildren filled him with great pride, and he loved them dearly.

Most importantly was his love for the Lord. He lived the Word everyday and did his best to always lead and point his family to the Word of God. His daily mission was to proclaim God's redeeming Salvation to the world.

He was a blessed and highly favored servant of God.  A beloved husband, father, father-in law and Pappa.  He will be forever missed and forever loved.  But Hallelujah we will see him again!

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife Joan Haynes Odell and "Sweetie-Hearty" dog, Missy, son Brian Odell and his wife Kristi of Shreveport/Blanchard LA, daughter Amy Odell Fincher and her husband Key of Shreveport LA, daughter Kerri Odell Farmer and her husband Michael of Shreveport, LA.  His Grandchildren, Kaiden Odell, Kody Odell, Kendal Odell, Garrett Fincher, Jonathan Fincher, Kathryn Fincher, Nicholas Crews and Daniel Crews.  And his brother Lee Edward Puckett, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Helen Delores Summers, Richard Harold Odell Jr (Buddy), William Gerald Odell, Randall Thomas Odell, Gary Lynn Odell, Elnor Elaine Odell and Irvin Carlisle Odell (Pud).

The family held a private celebration to honor him the evening of Sunday October 18, 2020
