Harold Charles Gibbs, 88, of Benton LA, passed away Nov. 28, 2017 at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center.

A native of Mexico NY, he was born Sep. 6, 1929 to Raymond and Mae (Barnes) Gibbs.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring, he spent much of his life in Southern California, where he enjoyed backpacking. A scoutmaster and co-ed Explorer post leader, he taught many young people survival skills.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray "Junior" and wife Jennie.

He is survived by two children, his stepchildren, and numerous grandchildren.

He will be interred at Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery Monday, 4 December 2017 at 12 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Toys for Tots or the charity of personal choice.

His family would like to thank his friends, his church, and the community for their support and comfort.
