Gerald "Jerry" W. Harris, 85, of Shreveport, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. Jerry was born in Taft, Texas, on July 25, 1937. He entered the US Air Force on September 3, 1959, and retired from Barksdale Air Force Base on September 30, 1975, as a SMSgt of the 2nd AMS Bomb NAV section. After retiring from the Air Force, Jerry worked as an electrician for General Motors from 1976 to 2002. After retirement, Jerry was a member and deacon of the Bethel Assembly of God Church for several years. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed cruising around on his Harley-Davidson.
Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, three brothers, one sister, and the mother of his children, Judy Harris.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Harris; his "four-legged" son, Obie; daughters, Cindy Foster of Bossier City, Louisiana and Kelly (Rickey) Jones of St. Joseph, LA; son, Buddy (Sandy) Harris of Benton, LA; two stepdaughters, Janie Hufford and Carol (Richard) Muellenschlader of Shreveport, LA; 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 step gret-grandchildren; and best friend/brother, Bill (Sharon) Sellars of Carthage, TX.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 5801 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71129. The Service will follow immediately after with Pastor Ray Holman who will also be officiating. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Aulds Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Keithville, LA at a later date.
