George Phillip Marble

Benton, La - A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of George, located at 1239 Old Plain Dealing Road, Benton, La, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 beginning at 4:00pm, followed by a small service at 5:00pm. Officiating will be Chaplin Jay Valentine of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department.

George was born February 7, 1941 in Benton to Wilber and Gertrude Marble and passed away August 16, 2021 at the age of 80 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

On September 30, 1960 he married Judith Moore and was a devoted husband for 42 years. After a short stint in Clearwater, Florida and Bossier City; George and Judy began to build their life together in Benton, Louisiana on the family farm where they raised 2 children. George worked over 30 years with AL&W Moore Trucking Company, before spending 10 years serving the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department.

Papaw G's love for his family and friends included his fishing buddies and their annual Father's Day fishing tournament, his hunting buddies with many deer camp memories along with many camping adventures over the last several years.

George is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, three brothers – John, Chuck and Al Marble and Mother and Father in law – Woodrow and Helen Moore.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Charles Marble and wife Kayla; daughter, Tracey Marble Hilburn and husband James Ray; three grandchildren Heather Marble, Chance Hilburn, and Christopher Marble; one step granddaughter Tonnie Compton and husband Charlie; great grandchild Maci Marble; step great grandchildren Cody and Chase Compton along with their families and companion Janet.

Paul bearers to stand in honor of George are Jim Montgomery, Syd Burt, Harvey Long, Don Sonnier, Pete Burks, Dusty Rhodes, Randy Rhodes, and Reggie Quillen.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made in his honor to your favorite charity.
