George Fredrick Ingersoll, III
George F. Ingersoll, III, age 80, died peacefully in his home on May 13, 2021. He was known by family and friends as "Tuck". A lifelong resident of Shreveport, he graduated from CE Byrd High School in 1959 and attended La. Tech.
Tuck was known for his unusual height (6'7"), but also for his warm, quick sense of humor and love of stories. He was a good athlete who loved sports all his life. He enjoyed success at competitive trap shooting, while a member of the Shreveport Gun Club for many years. His love of sports was passed on to his sons and their kids as a lasting legacy.
He maintained lifelong friendships with a close cadre of friends from his high school days that sustained him throughout his life. He was a founding member of the Big Lake Duck Club on Caddo lake, which became a central focus of his life for over 30 years. The times spent there with his family and friends were among his fondest memories. He was an avid duck hunter for most of his life, partly because it was a shared experience done with friends. His beloved black lab, Jake, was one of the lights of his life.
The last 25 years of his life, after he married Marjorie Boyd Hudson, were the happiest of his life because of Marjorie and the entire Boyd family. Their warmth and love embraced him and made him feel a part of an extended family that he had never known. Marjorie's passing in 2018, created a void he could never replace.
Tuck was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marjorie Boyd Ingersoll. He is survived by his sons: Don Ingersoll, his daughter in law Ronda Ingersoll and his grandsons Jamie and Tristan Ingersoll who all reside in Charlottesville, Virginia; and, Hunter Ingersoll, his daughter in law Tanya Ingersoll and his grandchildren Tara and Ryan Ingersoll who all reside in Staunton, Virginia. He is also survived by step daughters Jennifer Hudson Asel, her husband Richard Asel and three children August, Bradley and Annie Asel, all of Friso, Texas; and, step daughter Emily Hudson of Shreveport.
A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Cathedral Chapel at 11 am on Friday, May 21, 2021 . The service will be officiated by the clergy of St. Marks.
