Gene Raymond "Ray" Thrower Jr.

November 19, 1975-December 7, 2022

Ray Thrower, age 47, of Shreveport, LA passed away at Willis Knighton Hospital from heart complications.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lourcey Carter and a sister, Rebecca Jane Thrower.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Alexis Thrower of Hayesville, NC, and son, Peyton Reese Thrower, of Shreveport, LA; father, Gene (Debbie) Thrower of Hayesville, NC; sister, Tamara Thrower of Morganton, NC; stepfather, George Carter; nieces, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Georgia; nephews, Jacob, Parker, and David; his best friend of 23 years, Jackie Pettway, her husband, Jamie and nephew Jeremiah.

"Ray truly had a heart of gold.  He has helped more people than we could ever begin to count and many of them he still calls his friends.  He always said, "be the change you want to see" and in his heart, that's what he strived for.  He was one of the funniest people in the world and gave THE BEST hugs.  He loved all types of music and of course singing at the top of his lungs!  And dancing, of course!  He may have left us too soon, but his life was made complete by having his beautiful daughter and handsome little boy and knowing how much they loved their Daddy.  He is so very loved and will be missed more than words can ever say." -Jackie Pettway

Ray accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age.  It is great comfort knowing he is now in peace with his Lord and is looking down on all of us.

The family would like to thank the Willis Knighton Hospital CCU 2nd floor nurses and doctors for their care and compassion.  An enormous thank you from Ray's daughter, Lauren to the staff.  "They welcomed me like family and handled everything with so much patience and grace.  Could not have asked for a better team to care for my father."
