July 10, 1946 – August 15, 2024
Gary Don Remillard of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away at the age of 78 years on Wednesday, August 15, 2024, after a brief illness.
Gary was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, July 10, 1946. In grammar school he learned to speak Latin in order to become an altar server at St. Francis Cabrini Church. He was very talented musically and performed with a select group of students from Alexandria Junior High School and Bolton High School at many functions. As a teenager, Gary secured an Amateur Radio license (ham radio), and earned a pilot's license with his first solo flight on March 10, 1964.
After graduating from Bolton High School he attended Louisiana Tech University. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged. He worked for Hobart for many years; Hollywood Casino; and Louisiana Workforce.
He is survived by his spouse, the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Prestridge Remillard of 55 years; by his children, Chris Remillard (Christine), Scott Remillard (Beth); 5 grandchildren, Mason Remillard, Jaxon Remillard, Reyna Parker, Aleyna Parker, and Dominic Remillard; by his siblings, Vicki Rockett (David) and Mike Remillard (Vickie); by his nieces and nephews; two sisters in law, Paula Odom and Mary Faircloth, and one brother in law, John Prestridge.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Lt. Col. Donald W. Remillard and Roberta A. Remillard; and his sister, Sandra Jeanne Remillard.
A Holy Rosary will be conducted by Father Louis Sklar and members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Winnfield at 11:00am at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana, with a Funeral Service to follow with Monsignor Rothell Price and Father Louis Sklar officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend services celebrating Gary's life.
Cemetery Service will be at 12:30pm (arrive at 12:15pm) on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana 71047. Family and friends are invited to attend services celebrating Gary's life.
