Obituary

Shreveport - Gary Pegg, 75, of Shreveport, Louisiana, moved on to the next step of his journey on February 19, 2026. Born on November 2, 1950, to Marvin and Pawnee Pegg, Gary lived a life marked by devotion to his faith, family, and community.

A man of deep conviction and service, Gary was a vocational minister and social worker who dedicated himself to his faith and the spiritual and physical well-being of others. His commitment to helping those in need extended beyond the work day; it was the essence of his journey on this Earth.

Gary had a curious mind and a wide range of interests. If he didn't know how to do something, just wait. Give him an instruction manual, 2 YouTube videos and 3 tries, and he'd have it done. Recently, he'd enjoyed learning Spanish, so he could deliver his compliments on the mole directly, and more easily make friends with everyone in his community. He found great satisfaction and joy in his ability to repair just about anything for his friends and family because he loved, above all, being able to show you, not tell you, how much he loved you. And he loved everyone.

His love for singing brought joy to those around him, while his passion for reading and writing reflected his thoughtful and curious nature. These were not just ways to pass the time but expressions of his vibrant, generous, and deeply caring personality. Everything he did stemmed from his desire to express his indefatigable love and concern for the people around him.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Pegg; his sister Anitra Cameron; brothers Duane Pegg and Wayne Pegg; daughters Catherine Businelle, Shintina Pegg, Anitra Van Prooyen, and Rita Bryant; son Jerry Pegg; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by and is now reunited with his parents Marvin and Pawnee Pegg, his brother Walter Pegg and his daughter Susan Barnes.

May Gary's memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. His unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and enduring love for family will be cherished forever.

A memorial service will be held at Southern Hills Church of Christ on March 7th. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 3:00 PM.
