Gail Ann Russell Scruggs
May 16, 1958 – December 23, 2021
Gail Ann Russell Scruggs, 63, of Bossier City entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at her residence with her two children, their spouses, and seven grandchildren by her side.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 27 th from 12:30 to 2:30pm at South Bossier Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana. Her visitation will be followed by a Graveside Service at Jackson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, in Joaquin, Texas.
Gail was born on May 16, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Walter E. Russell and Faye Black Russell. She grew up in Joaquin, Texas. In high school she enjoyed being a majorette and teaching others how to twirl. She went on to become a hair stylist to many, including managing her own salon where she loved sharing the gospel with anyone who would sit in her chair. Later she attended the American School of Business where she began her career in Medical Coding and went on to receive many certifications in this field. She was excellent in her work and admired by many. Gail loved Jesus and loved her family. She bravely fought a battle with colon cancer for the last 10 years, but thankfully she was able to spend a lot of time at home with her children and grandchildren. Most importantly, she never lost sight of her true purpose, which was to worship and serve the Lord in all that she did. She was always looking for ways to further her walk with the Lord while she was here, which included leading choirs, teaching Sunday school classes, and participating in family bible studies weekly. She was a leader, a warrior, and a Godly inspiration to many.
She is survived by: Daughter Lindsey Scruggs Baillio and husband Jody Baillio of Bossier City, Louisiana. Son Noah Scruggs and wife Emily Garner Scruggs of Metairie, Louisiana. Seven grandchildren: Lila Baillio, Jillian Baillio, Sadie Baillio, Evalynn Baillio, Dallas Baillio, Ezra Scruggs, and Alyza Scruggs. Brothers: Don Russell and Steve Russell. Sister-in-law: Joanne English and husband Stevie English. Brother-in-law: Dennis Scruggs and wife Sherry Scruggs, and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter E. Russell and Faye Black Russell, sister: Darline Russell Miller, brother: Conner Russell, and sisters-in-law: Brenda Russell and Bobbie Floyd Russell.
Pallbearers are Stevie English, Race English, Cam English, Robert Floyd, Derek Russell, and Dennis Scruggs. Honorary pallbearer Ricky Miller.
