Obituary

Frederick George Gregory, (Freddy G) 79, of Benton, Louisiana, passed away suddenly at his home on April 27, 2026.

Fred was born on July 3, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to George and Gene Gregory. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a long and dedicated career in law enforcement. Fred served with the Bossier City Police Department for 32 years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community. Following his retirement in 2011, he continued his service with the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office as a forensic investigator under Dr. John Chandler until his retirement in February of 2023. He was a devoted member and Secretary of the Martin McClanahan Masonic Lodge, and a member of the El Karubah Shrine for over 30 years. He served as the Potentate in 2012. Fred enjoyed life to the fullest—he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved playing golf, and in his younger years, played the trumpet. Above all, Fred was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, of 44 years, Mary Gregory; his children, Ronnie Miller (DJ), Tracy Fortner (Jessie), Stacey Gregory (Stephanie), Mickey Gregory, Tina Hampton, and Jeff Walraven (Melissa). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, along with extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gene Gregory; his son, Mickey Gregory; and his beloved granddaughter Jordan Keith. Fred will be remembered for his lifetime of service, his dedication to his community, and the deep love he had for his family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Fred’s honor to the Shriner’s Hospital Shreveport. Fred will receive law enforcement honors at the celebration of life.
