Frank James Griffith Jr., 77, of Keithville, Louisiana, passed away on June 25, 2026, due to complications from heart and kidney failure. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at a future date to be determined by the family.
Known by many names throughout his life—including Frank, Jay, FJ, Cap, and Ajax (a nickname inspired by his family's farm)—Frank was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and helping others. He loved tinkering with anything powered by a combustion engine, building sheds and porches whenever needed, and occasionally moving them after deciding they belonged somewhere else. His property was well known for its collection of small engines and spare parts, where friends could often find that hard-to-locate part that was no longer sold in stores.
Frank especially cherished the time he spent on his property with his close deer camp friends. For nearly four decades, they shared friendship, fellowship, and a willingness to help one another through life's many challenges.
Although Frank often claimed he didn't enjoy being around large groups of people, those who knew him best understood that he had a generous heart and a smile that appeared whenever he shared one of his stories or snarky comments. During his final months in long-term nursing care, his storytelling and sense of humor helped him form new friendships with both fellow residents and the staff at Heritage Manor Stratmore. His family is deeply grateful for the compassion, kindness, and care shown to him during that time.
Frank was one of eight children and is survived by a son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and four siblings. He would have been a great grandpa in November.
Frank’s remarkable ability to endure pain brings comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. It is easy to imagine him now building a shed, repairing an engine, or lending a helping hand in heaven. Whether you knew him as Frank, Jay, FJ, Cap, Ajax, Papaw or Dad, he will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
