Francis D. Edwards was born November 26, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert and Dr. Virginia (Schooley) Edwards and he went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, July 25, 2025, after a long battle with kidney failure.

Francis was raised in Mansfield, Ohio.  He went to Ohio State University where he earned an associate's degree in science and a bachelor's degree in finance. He became a resident of Louisiana in 1995.

Francis was a member of Benton Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School to the class of Grumpy Old Men.  He also enjoyed tutoring and mentoring teenagers in algebra and geometry.  He was not satisfied until they excelled and were confident with themselves.  He changed many of these teenager's lives by teaching them more than math and leading them to a more positive and productive path!  Francis helped install the sound equipment at the wedding chapel in Benton, Louisiana.  Francis was also an artist; he could really draw antique cars!

He worked at Goodwill Industries for 19 years.  During his employment, he was named employee of the year and also earned his CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer) badge!

Francis is preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his wife, Sylvia J. Edwards; his brother, Randy Edwards; many nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.

A memorial service will be held at Benton Methodist Church, 4615 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana, 71006, on Friday, August 15, 2025.  A visitation will be at 1 PM followed by the service at 2 PM.  A reception will be held after the service.
