Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Florence Janelle “Nell” Woods, who peacefully departed this life on August 13, 2026, at the age of 59.

Florence was born on March 20, 1967, in Monroe, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought love and joy into the lives of so many.

Nell will be remembered for her strength, kindness, sense of humor, faith, and loving spirit. She was always willing to help others in their time of need and had a special way of making her family feel loved and cared for. Her warmth and compassion touched many lives, and she will forever be remembered for the love she so freely gave to those around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Sakita Woods and Vennictrea Woods; five grandchildren, Serenity Woods, Sakari Woods, Aliyah Woods, Kingston Woods, and Karter Woods; her loving and devoted sister, Cynthia (Woods) Dobbins; one brother and two other sisters; one nephew, Joseph Woods; and three nieces, Natassia Woods, Michaelynn Gray, and Octavia Gray.

She also leaves her great-nephews and great-nieces, Tarrez Woods, Ashia Washington, Trejhun Woods, Elijah Gray, Atticus Gray, Callie Gray, Des’cy Gray, and Malik Gray, along with numerous other loved ones, family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Amanda Mae Lewis, who was a mother to her; her great-aunt, Effie Bessie Evans (Lewis); and her cousin, Toni Gilmore.

Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that her love and memory will continue to live on in each of us.

John 5:24

“He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Rest peacefully, dear mother and sister. You will forever live in our hearts, and your love will never be forgotten.

Revelation 21:4

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

We will always love you, until eternity. We will meet again.
