Obituary

Evonne spent the majority of her life with her left side paralyzed and in pain but always managed to be a beacon of light to others. Her paintings hang in the nursing homes she lived in for many years. Her love for God was never in question and always an encouragement for those of us who complain over minor things in our lives. She was injured when her only daughter, Fran, was only five years old. She had been a young, beautiful girl full of life when tragedy struck changing her life forever. Although she would always be handicapped, she started the first "handicap" club in Knoxville, Tennessee so that all handicapped individuals would have a place to go for a fun entertaining outing once a month. As her health deteriorated, she continued painting which was a gift from God. Even after being totally confined to bed, she continued painting and writing poetry until her eyesight would not allow even this. She never gave up witnessing to others about her faith in God. Evonne will be truly missed by all those who came in contact with her. Also her dear friends Darlene and Neal who so faithfully visited her and took care of her personal needs when family could not be near. And her one remaining sister, Patsy, who provided her with "goody boxes" to cheer her up and made her beautiful gowns that opened down the back. These meant so very much to Evonne. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. Showing pictures of them, she would beam with pride. She even named her cuddly, stuffed animals after these grandchildren. It gave her comfort when she was lonely and wanted to hold them. Her spirit will never be forgotten.
