Haughton, LA - Eugenia Phyllis Johnson died peacefully on December 5, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born October 29, 1042, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Edward Eugene Johnson and Phyllis Irene Carson Johnson. Phyllis and Eugene lived their lives loving, caring, and protecting their girls, taking into their home their daughters' friends when they needed a haven. She lived part of her life in Puerto Rico. Upon returning to Haughton, she graduated from Haughton High School. December 15, 1962, Eugenia married her high school sweetheart, Paul Fargo Johnson. In March 1975, Genie and Paul added a son, Drew Johnson, to their family. Genie's quick wit and nurturing spirit was shown to those with whom she came in contact. It was in Genie's DNA to take care of others. She and Paul helped raise his sister's three sons and spent many hours with her sister's son. Genie is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Paul Fargo Johnson, her son, Drew Johnson and wife, Melissa and one grandson, Conner Johnson and her sister, Rowanne Johnson McCollister, nephew, Clarke McCollister and wife, Sheryl. She had one niece, five nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins. Genie was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, Cordie Little Johnson and Paul Jones Johnson. The funeral services will be held at Love Chapel, 2001 Forrest Hills Drive, Haughton, Louisiana, Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2 pm. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jean Simpson.
