Eugene Jake Treece, "Tater Boy", age 84, formerly of Shreveport, lost his battle with cancer in his family home Saturday, May 8, 2021. Gene was born in Hope, Arkansas on April 11, 1937 to Johnnie and Estell Treece.
As a young man, he went to school and worked at his family owned and operated cotton farm until he enlisted in the Army in 1954. He married the love of his life, Betty Barnes on August 31, 1957. They raised two daughters and one son, and taught them to love and respect each other, and how to love God most of all. He worked as a truck driver until he retired and became a security guard for Caddo Parish School Board. He spent the rest of his days praising the Lord, loving and taking care of his family, picking up grandkids from school, and taking care of his bride of 63 years. His hobbies included spending time with his family and taking on projects around the house.
Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Treece; his daughters, Sheila Nasser and Apryl Knowles and her husband, Josh; his daughter-in-law, Sherry Treece; his sister, Dorothy Ann Dowdy; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Johnnie and Estell Treece; his brother, Bill Treece; and his son, Bricky Treece.
The visitation will be held at 10 am on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Auld's Funeral Home with a service following at 11 am. Burial will follow the funeral at East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Josh Knowles, John Ganey, Treece Nasser, Michael Nasser, Jordan Mitchell, Ben Higgs, and Tommy Tackett.
