Esther Mae (Parker) Wilkins, age 77, of Shreveport, LA, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at The Grace Home in Shreveport, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10:00am til 11:00 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church just prior to the service at 11:00am. Rev. Beth Sentell will be officiating. Interment will follow at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa, LA. Miss Esther was a native of Vivian, Louisiana and a resident of Shreveport for over 50 years. She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. She served as personnel manager of Sears for over 15 years. She loved her china painting and travel with her husband. Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her parents Rosa Lee and Fred D. Parker; brothers, Fred Parker, Clyde Parker, Doyle Parker, Herbert Parker and David Parker and her baby sister Lucille. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dr. William Charles Wilkins, Jr.; one daughter, Amy Colbert Kuhlen & husband Greg of Dublin Ohio; 2 step-daughters, Ruth Wilkins Orth of Pensacola, FL & Carol Wilkins Kennan of New Orleans, LA; one son, Fred J. Colbert of Shreveport, LA, three grandchildren, Jason Parker of Lewisville, TX, Justin C. Parker of Kenosha, WI and Heather N. Parker of Dublin, OH; step-grandchildren, Tracy Kennan of Abita Springs, LA and Ashley Kennan Geeding of Bella Vista, AR, Roger Orth of Chicago, IL and Robyn Orth of Pensacola, FL; four great grandchildren Michelle, Ashley, Katlyn & Jacob Parker of Lewisville, TX and two sisters, Nell Miller of Pittsburg, TX and Marie Nowlin of Rosenberg, TX. Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, Keith Parker, Charles Nowlin, Dr. Bill Tenney, Leon Darden & Bobby Gill. The family requests that memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation and to Trinity Presbyterian Church on Airline in Bossier City, LA. The family also wishes to express a special thanks to Christus Highland Hospital, the Grace Home and Dr. Steen Trawick for the loving care that was extended to Esther.
