Ernie Wellsworth, 65, of Bossier, City, Louisiana left the world August 4th, 2026. He was born June 2nd, 1961 in Houston, Texas.

Ernie served in the United States Marine’s. During which he served on the USS Midway. His tour sent him to Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines. He was an honored Shellback. He got a certificate for when his ship crossed the Equator that he was very proud of during his time in the Maries. During his time in the Marines he accomplished many certificates and had a profession as Electrical Maintenance on Aircraft’s. Later, he gained many more Certifications and Awards throughout his career. Several jobs that he enjoyed was big rig driving, Injection Molding Plastic field , and worked in the parts department at McElroy Metal for a number of years. After which he moved on as a Security Guard for Sam’s Town Casino in Shreveport for the remaining years of his life.

Ernie was the one that you could count on and the one that showed up whenever needed, No Matter What. Being a “Papaw” was one of his greatest joys in life. He enjoyed spending one on one time with each one of his grandbabies. Playing, laughing, and trying to make memories with them. Ernie loved NASCAR racing, Banana baseball, and Saints football. Was an avid Survivor and Big Brother fan. But most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his Sister Sherri Osbon; and Nieces Amber Wright and Samantha Clements and her husband BJ Clements; and children; Chance, Delvin, and Kellen. His wife Linda Kirk. His Stepchildren Mary Hill and husband Kyle Hill, and Johnathan Kirk. As well as his beloved grandchildren; Baylin, Remington, and Melanie Hill.

Ernie was preceded in death by his mother Erma Copes, his father Edwin Wellsworth, Brothers; Johnnie, Morris, and Dennis, and his Sister; Shirley. And his last 2 beloved fur babies Tortie and Daisy.

Ernie loved with his whole heart and soul. His love and strength will never be forgotten. And, will live on in the Hearts of everyone that he touched.

Memorial is set for September 3rd, 2026 at 10:30am. At Auld’s Funeral Home at 7849 E Kings Hwy. Shreveport, LA 71115. If possible please wear your best NASCAR, Saints, and Smiley Face or casual attire. As those were his favorite things and would have loved that.
