Elsie Juanita Rogers, age 90 of Shreveport, LA, passed peacefully on July 10, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on July 7, 1933 in Choudrant, LA. Juanita was a long-term resident of Shreveport, LA. She worked at BellSouth Telephone Company until her retirement after 30 years.
Juanita enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, spending time with her family, her nights out with the girls, and cheering on her favorite team, "Geaux Tigers".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Clarence Jones, Jr.; her brothers, Durward Jones, Glen Jones, and Marvin Jones; sisters, Helen Ritchie, Shirley Mayfield, and Sheila Jones; and grandchildren, Seth Stockton and Torie Stockton.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Borden L. "Pete" Rogers; her 4 children, Anita Lee and Donnie Beavers of Bastrop, LA; Michael Rogers of Los Angeles, CA; Kathy Frost and husband Barry of Shreveport, LA; Barbara York and husband Wesley of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Nicholas Rogers and wife Claire of Santa Clara, CA; Jonathan York and wife Taylor of Bossier City, LA; Lauren Frost of Lafayette, LA; Matthew Frost and Kayla Fletcher of Shreveport, LA; Sophia Rogers of London, England; Christopher York and Elora Allison of Shreveport, LA; and great grandson, Michael Thomas Rogers. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Jones and wife Shirley of Denham Springs, LA, and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Juanita will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
A Celebration of Juanita's Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Shreveport, LA, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Dr. William M. Scott. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the staff at The Glen Magnolia House and Christus Schumpert Hospice.
While she will be deeply missed, her ability to light up any room and her adventurous spirit will live in our hearts forever.
