Elliece Garland, age 96, passed peacefully at home with family in Shreveport, LA on Friday November 8, 2019. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA officiated by Father Mark Watson.

Elliece was born in Bryceland, LA in 1923. After graduating from Byrd High School, she met and married her husband of 59 years, Edward Garland.

Elliece was a devoted and loving daughter, niece, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma and friend. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, and working in her yard. She loved to laugh and always had a twinkle in her eyes. Her desserts were absolutely legendary, especially her pies, pralines, and fudge. She gave the best hugs.  Elliece truly exemplified having a servant's heart and lived out her devout Christian faith by tirelessly and selflessly helping and caring for family, friends and strangers. Her best pieces of advice were to always put the Lord first and foremost in your life and that you can say just about anything if it was true and you smiled when you said it.  She always strived to leave the world a little better than she found it, which she most certainly did.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Harper Gray, husband Edward Garland, and daughter Debbie Garland. She is survived by four children, Eric Garland and his wife Rene Garland, of Lafayette, LA, Cathy Sanders, Gerry Garland, both of Shreveport, LA, and Shay Richard and her husband Mike Richard, of Spring, TX, six grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The family would sincerely like to thank the nurses, aides and staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospice and Dr. Robert L. Savory for their gentle and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Shreveport.
