A celebration of life service is pending at this time due to Covid issues for Elizabeth Havard Tuggle, 79, of Waskom, Texas. Liz, as she was known to her family and friends, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas after lengthy illness. Surrounded by loved ones, she fought a courageous battle for more than a year with numerous health issues.
Liz was born in Shreveport, to Frank and Mary Havard. She was raised in Castor, LA where she graduated high school. As a standout athlete in high school, Liz was named All-State in basketball her senior year. After high school, she moved to Shreveport where she worked for South Central Bell as an operator. A year later she met William Dean Tuggle from Bossier City on a blind date and they married in 1961. Liz was the Office Manager for many years at Shreveport Gymnastics Supply before beginning teaching school at Woodlawn and Southwood High School. She continued her love for basketball by being named the first girls' basketball coach at Woodlawn in 1975. In the 1980's, Liz became a respected small business owner in the shipping and air freight business in Shreveport. She owned and operated multiple businesses for many years including Associated Air Freight, River City Air Cargo, Craters and Freighters and Ark_La-Tex Air Cargo.
Mrs. Tuggle was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dean Tuggle of Waskom, Texas; two sons, William D. Tuggle, Jr. and wife Lesli of Shreveport, and Greg Tuggle and wife Heather of Greenwood, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas for all their assistance and compassion during this difficult time.
