Obituary

Elizabeth "Babs" Lloyd Hatton – was born on October 27, 1951 and passed away on August 3, 2025.

"Babs", as she was called by everyone who knew her, was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Bryan Murray Lloyd, Sr., a former U. S. Army Pilot who led the B-26 Martin Maurader Bomber "The Old Hell Cat", and Grace Etchison Jacobs, a lifelong Shreveport resident from one of the city's oldest families.  Grace, too, was called "Babs", and together they had four children.

Growing up, Babs enjoyed riding horses and swimming across the Red River, long before it was considered dangerous.  She graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1969, where she was voted class favorite her Junior year, and later attended Louisiana Tech University. Eventually following in her father's footsteps, she became a Landman.  She also shared her lifelong love of horses with her community by running Ponyland, a local Farm open to the public for horseback riding and pony parties for children.

Babs was known for her quirky sense of humor and quick wit.  She was a loving mother, an avid animal lover, and anyone who met her remembered her long after for her endearing personality and contagious laugh.  There are not enough words to describe how much she will be missed.

She is survived by her loving children, daughter Hallie Hatton, and son John Hatton; her sister, Frances Lloyd; her brother Bryan Lloyd, Jr., and his wife Lynn; and her sister-in-law, Susie Lloyd, wife of her late brother, Peter Lloyd.  She is also lovingly remembered by many beloved cousins, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park or Robinson's Rescue, honoring her love for nature and her lifelong devotion to animals.
