HAUGHTON, LA - Elaine Matthews Langford Hebert, 75, passed peacefully, surrounded by her husband and children at Grace Home on February 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church 4700 Palmetto Road, Benton, LA in the church narthex with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Bishop Derek Jones and Father Thomas Pike. Elaine, our "Queen Bee", was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, born December 19, 1939. She was a Fair Park High School graduate and employed by the Shreveport Times for many years before joining the U. S. Postal Service, where she retired. She was a past member of the American Business Women's Association, the Bossier Optimist Club, Shreveport Times TOT's and her Spady Ladies Card Group. Elaine was a Godly lady who was active in Kairos Outside Ministry. She loved her antiques, classic books, traveling, gardening, family, friends and especially her Friday Lunch Bunch gals. She always had a song to sing and a story to tell. In Elaine's presence, everyone felt special. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Reverend Sylvester Benjamin Hebert; three loving children, DeLaine Langford Stricklin and husband, Bill; Greg Langford and wife, Seaneen; and Darren Langford. Elaine will forever remain their "Memee" to her grandchildren; William Stricklin, Andrew Stricklin, and Austin Langford. She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Elaine to Kairos Prison Ministry, P.O. Box 5522 Shreveport, LA 71135 or Grace Home, One St. Mary Place Shreveport, LA 71101.
