IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edith Mae
Robinson-Burns
August 31, 1924 – April 7, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Edith Mae "Edie Mae" Robinson-Burns, who entered into eternal rest on April 7, 2024, at the age of 99. A native of Chickasaw, Alabama, Edie Mae was born on August 31, 1924, to the late Frank and Minnie Hamby.
Edie Mae was the cherished matriarch of her family, a dedicated wife, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandmother. She leaves behind her devoted son, Mark Robinson and his wife, Paula; her treasured grandchildren, Justin, Paige, Mark, Dancer, Kelly, and Michael; her dear sister, Jackie Downs; and a host of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, James A. Robinson; her second husband, Leon Burns; her son, James A. Robinson, Jr.; her daughter, Kathy Kephart; and her siblings, Frank, Charles, Dorothy, and Charlotte.
Throughout her life, Edie Mae's journey took her to many places, including Michigan, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, before she settled back in her beloved Shreveport. Her talents were many, but she was particularly admired for her exquisite work in children's heirloom clothing, a craft she generously taught to others. Her hands were rarely idle, as she was always immersed in creating beautiful quilts, engaging in Swedish weaving, or knitting intricate patterns.
Edie Mae's love for gardening was evident in the beauty of her yard, which often earned her local accolades. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she reigned supreme with her Southern culinary delights, ensuring that no one ever left her table hungry.
An astute card player, Edie Mae enjoyed the thrill of competitive bridge and "PonyTail." Her weekly games with her sisters were legendary, filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Her vibrant personality, characterized by her fiery red hair and spirited nature, will be fondly remembered. Edie Mae's stories and laughter were a joy to all who had the pleasure of her company.
A private memorial service will honor Edie Mae's memory. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Aulds Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana, is entrusted with the arrangements.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kim Johnson for her exceptional care and love for Edie Mae during her residence at the Mont Clair. Our appreciation also goes to the staff at the Mont Clair and to all of Edie Mae's friends and family members who provided comfort and support in her final years.
May Edie Mae Robinson-Burns rest in peace, and may her legacy of love and laughter live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
