In Loving Memory of
Edith Foy Hucklebridge
May 6, 1931 – December 19, 2024
Edith (Edie) Foy Hucklebridge, a cherished member of our family and a beloved presence in the community, peacefully entered eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on December 19, 2024, at the age
of 93. A devoted Catholic throughout her life, we find comfort in knowing she is now embraced by our Heavenly Father, resting in eternal peace.
Edie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even great-great-grandmother, leaving a profound legacy of love and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she
touched.
A memorial Mass to honor Edie's extraordinary life will be held on January 11, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. A small reception will follow in the church's multi purpose room, where family and friends are invited to celebrate her life.
Born on May 6, 1931, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to Fay and Rufus Foy, Edie grew up surrounded by the simple joys of country life. She spent her early years playing in cotton fields with her beloved sister, Edna Lois. After the family relocated to Bossier City during her childhood, Edie discovered her passion for music, beginning piano lessons at the age of ten. Her love for music blossomed as she participated in band throughout her school years, graduating from Bossier High School in 1948.
Edie's first solo performance, "The Lord's Prayer," marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in music. In 1949, she married and devoted herself to raising her three daughters, setting aside her music
temporarily to focus on family. Over the years, she worked in various fields, including at a CPA firm, a radio station, and in property management, where her determination and talent led her to great success. She also owned and operated Bouquets Incorporated in North Shreveport, where her artistic talents
shone through her stunning floral arrangements. Edie was quite proud of the work she did as an auxiliary deputy for the Caddo Parish Sherriff's Department. She even dabbled in acting, appearing as an extra in films shot in North Louisiana.
Music, however, remained Edie's true passion. She wrote her own songs, established her own publishing
company (PSC Publishing, affectionately named after her daughters), and performed extensively across the United States. As part of the Double Delight Duo with her dear partner, Al Fishetti, she recorded
several albums. She also had the opportunity to perform at the KWKH Louisiana Hayride Cast Reunion:
One More Ride.
A vibrant and fierce woman with a larger-than-life personality, Edie's quick wit and feisty spirit left an unforgettable impression on everyone she met. To her family, she was affectionately known as "Gram," and her unwavering love and support created countless cherished memories. Her presence will forever
be a guiding light in the lives of those she adored.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Rufus Foy, her sister, Edna Lois Foy, and son-in-law William Foust. She is survived by her three daughters: Cynthia Foust, Suzan Cahanin, and Peggy and her
husband, Bobby Swindle; her grandchildren and spouses: Ashley and Brad Whittington, Ryan and Jillian Donaghey, Ashley Pardue, Rachael and Shawn Smith, and Krysten and Jeff Hebert; her great grandchildren: Colby and his spouse, Lauren Whittington, Alyssa Whittington, Addison Whittington,
Kamdyn Donaghey, Saylor Donaghey, Riggley Donaghey, Austin Pardue, Kylie Pardue, and Greyson Smith; and her great-great-granddaughter, Mary Catherine Whittington.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless ways she enriched the lives of all who knew her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
