Marvin Edward Smith, 77, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 after a short illness.  Edd was born December 7, 1944 in Berwyn, Illinois to Marvin and Lailon Smith.  He graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport in 1962.  After high school, Edd joined the United States Air Force and served four years.  He married the love of his life, Susan, and together they raised four children – Jennifer, Scott, Emily and Michael.  He worked in sales for over 30 years and made friends everywhere he went.  For many years, Edd and Susan had a woodworking business.  Edd was a talented woodworker and built tables and shelves and other beautiful items.  He was very involved in his children's activities such as Judo, wrestling, band and more.  In addition, he was very involved in his church mission and enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen.  He was a lover of animals and always had dogs and cats.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and cooking authentic Louisiana cuisine.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lailon Smith.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Susan, daughter Jennifer Tuxen (husband Eric), son Scott (wife Beth), daughter Emily Ferrell (husband Scott), and son Michael (wife Amanda) and eleven grandchildren Benjamin, Grace, Lilah, Noah, Adalynn, Carter, Chloe, Chandler, Lily, Harper, and Daisy, and sisters Beverly Leach and Judy Tyler.

Edd had many lifelong friends and was loved by many.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the many people who cared for him during his illness.
