Dr. Dwight Vernon Hart, age 78, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at Willis-Knighton North Hospital surrounded by the love and care of family and devoted caregivers.
Born on September 11, 1947, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Dwight was the son of Vernon Elvis Hart and Mardrie Mozell Hart. He built a life marked by hard work, dedication, and an unmistakable sense of humor that brought joy to countless family members, friends, patients, and acquaintances throughout the years.
For more than 45 years, Dwight served the community as a chiropractor. His practice, Family Chiropractic Services, started in 1969 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri . He moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1992 and started Eastgate Chiropractic Clinic and retired in 2014 but maintained his professional license which is a reflection of his lifelong commitment to the profession he loved and the people he served. His career was defined not only by his skill and knowledge but also by the genuine relationships he formed with those who entrusted him with their care.
Dwight shared 27 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Janet Tesreau Hart. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and making memories with those they loved.
He was an avid water skier and enjoyed spending time on his Jet Ski, embracing every opportunity to be on the water. Those who knew Dwight will forever remember his quick wit, playful personality, and willingness to laugh—even at himself. Family gatherings were often made more memorable by his favorite running joke of introducing himself under the pseudonym “Steve Wilson” or leaving that name for restaurant orders, delighting family and friends with his lighthearted antics. His bright blue eyes, infectious humor, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Janet Hart; his sons, Brent Hart and wife Macy, and Brian Hart; his stepchildren, Jill Brice and husband Brandon Brice, and Nathan Brown; his grandchildren, Tyler Hart, Tesla Hart, Genevieve Hart, Maxwell Hart, Natalie Brice, and Kendal Brice; his cousin, Keith Stacey, along with Keith’s wife and daughter; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Elvis Hart, in 2018, his mother, Mardrie Mozell Hart, and his aunt, Gay Stacey.
The family will receive friends at Aulds Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief memorial service from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Flowers can be sent to Aulds funeral home 7849 E. Kings Highway Shreveport, LA 71115. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Angela Harris, Angela Hawkins, and Glynnis Hawkins, whose loving and around-the-clock care during the final two weeks of Dwight’s life brought comfort and dignity to both him and his family. Special thanks are also extended to the staff of the Willis-Knighton North Emergency Department, especially Scott Davis, Shakayla and Landon, for their exceptional attentiveness and compassion during his final hours. The family is deeply grateful as well to his stepdaughter, Jill, whose tireless efforts in coordinating caregivers, helping care for Dwight, and supporting the family during his final weeks were a tremendous blessing.
Dwight’s legacy lives on through the laughter he shared, the lives he touched, and the family he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to bring smiles to those who knew him—perhaps especially whenever someone hears the name “Steve Wilson.”
