IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doyle Lee
Wise Jr.
October 9, 1963 – November 7, 2022
Doyle (D.J.) Lee Wise, Jr., age 59, was born October 9, 1963. DJ died peacefully on November 7, 2022, at the Carpenter House Hospice after suffering a stroke. DJ had been battling Stage IV pancreatic and metastatic liver cancer since January of 2022. Upon learning of his terminal diagnosis and the likelihood that he would live only months, his first thoughts were of others and how to comfort those he loved. DJ lived each day happy, curious, and grateful.
DJ grew up in Greenwood, Louisiana, where he would be quick to tell you there was always something to do on the farm. He graduated from Loyola College Prep in 1980, and attended Louisiana Tech, McNeese, and LSUS, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. DJ worked with his father and uncles in the construction industry until the 1990's when he began a career in the offshore oil and gas industry. DJ worked as a materials coordinator and storekeeper around the globe and in the Gulf of Mexico. Working in Ireland, Brazil, South Korea, and Great Britain, DJ enjoyed his job and the free time it afforded him to pursue his many hobbies and interests. Outside of his work, DJ was never bored. You could find him at Lowe's or in his workshop, sitting outside with his dogs, Willie and Chuck, or helping out a friend. He was always quick with a dad joke, down for an adventure, loved good Scotch, could crochet a scarf, build a house, and was thoughtful beyond measure. If D.J. Wise didn't like you, there is a strong chance you are a terrible person.
D.J. was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Wise, Sr. of Jonesboro, AR.
