Dorothy (Dot) Vera Frey, of Gloster, La entered into eternal rest on December 30, 2023, in Shreveport La. She was born on August 28, 1934, in Passaic New Jersey to Agnes & Frederick Cook, the youngest of 14 children. Dot was a graduate of Passaic High School. Her entire life revolved around children. From working in daycares & schools, to taking care of any child who needed it, including most of her grandchildren. Caring for people & animals was truly her passion. She fed all of the stray cats & dogs in the neighborhood, adopting many of them as her own & helping the others find homes. She loved any mystery novel, especially Agatha Christy books. She was an avid fan of the Game Show Network, always advocating for "quitting while you're ahead." Dot loved to bake. Her chocolate chip & snickerdoodle cookies were everyone's favorite. She also loved to write short stories, mostly for kids and could always be easily convinced to do get grandchildren's English homework for them. She was the self-appointed messenger for ALL of the family news, although accuracy could not be guaranteed. Dot touched so many people & so many lives. She would do, give, or say anything to make the people that she loved happy, and she loved everyone as if they were her own. Dot was a source of comfort when times were hard. Her values of kindness and togetherness are evident in the lives of her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. Her greatest wish was to have a loving family who had opportunities for success. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes & Frederick Cook.
