Donnie Ray Walker left this Earth surrounded by his loving family on August 25, 2021. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana to Dalton (D.B.) and Marie Walker on January 23, 1947. The family later relocated to the Shreveport - Bossier City area. He was a 1965 Fair Park High School graduate and attended Northwestern University on a baseball scholarship.
He had three passions in life; his family, race cars, and playing pool. He was a member of both the APA Pool Association and the USAPL Pool League. He was a proud cancer survivor. His doctors from MD Anderson called him a "tough ol' bird" when he beat it.
Donnie married the true love of his life, Deborah Ann Cutler on August 21, 1982, in Bossier City, Louisiana. They celebrated their 39th anniversary mere days before his passing. To this union, Donnie brought three children, Stacy, Shelley, and Scott. They later added two more sons to their family, Brett and Cory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Joseph (Joe) Walker, Sr; grandson, Coty Hatfield; father-in-law, Gordon Cutler; and sister-in-law, Jackie Collert.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie, daughters Stacy Walker Cooper and husband Robert, of Marlow, Oklahoma; Shelley Walker Cooley and husband Jerome, of Shreveport, Louisiana; sons Scott Walker and wife Sheryl, of Haughton, Louisiana; Brett Walker and wife Samanta, of Houston, Texas; Cory Walker and wife Kelli, of Haughton, Louisiana; sister, Patricia Walker Galbraith and husband Ronnie, of Shreveport, Louisiana; uncle, Ray Walker and wife Teresa, of Monroe, Louisiana; mother-in-law, Faye Cutler, of Bossier City, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Mary Goblowsky and husband Robbie, of Texarkana, Texas; and sister-in-law, Jennifer Sentell of Bossier City, Louisiana.
In addition, he leaves 17 grandchildren: Laura, Alex, Morgan, Hayden, Stefani, Brittani, Aaliyah, Emily, Amber, Kaylee, Sebastian, Ezekiel, J.R., Mason, Landon, Eli, and Dalton; 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends that were like family.
Visitation will be held at Western Hills Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with a memorial service officiated by Joey Ketchum immediately following. There will be no graveside service.
Chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are his dear friends: Neal McMahon, Gary Medders, Kenny May, Ricky Burke, Joe Whittington, Mike Wilson, Chris Holden, and Tony Gentry.
