Donald Ray "Don" Baggs, 70, went to meet Jesus face to face peacefully in his home after a hard, lengthy illness on October 28, 2025, in Blanchard, Louisiana. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 7, 1955.

After graduating from high school, Don answered the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army National Guard. While in the military, Don worked as a diesel mechanic for 13 years, where his mechanical expertise and unwavering dedication reflected his strong work ethic and steadfast character.

Don was a man of deep, profound faith. A devoted follower of Christ, he shared his beliefs openly and passionately with everyone he encountered. Even during times of personal hardship and illness, he remained a beacon of hope and spiritual strength—offering prayers, encouragement, and testimony to all who visited him. In his final days and hours, Don continued to lead loved ones toward Christ through the quiet power of his example.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Blanchard, where he served faithfully in various capacities. His love for scripture and fellowship found a special place in the Men of Courage Bible study group within the North Shreveport and Bossier Chapters. Don also found joy riding motorcycles with the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), combining his love for the open road with his mission to share God's word.

Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kay Baggs; sons Keoni Smith (Janet) of Panama City, Florida; Shawn Freeland of Monroe, Louisiana; and Justin Freeland (Sara); daughter Cheriea Freeland of Shreveport/Bossier; grandchildren Kayla Harris (Nick); Makai Smith of Florida; Malia Smith of Tennessee; Jadyen Smith of Georgia; Junior Jones; Anniston Freeland; Remmington Freeland; Jolene Freeland; and Jaxon Smith of Shreveport/Bossier. He is also remembered by his sister, Stasey Senn, and sister-in-law, Joan Baggs, both of Blanchard, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Lora Baggs, and his brother, Leon Baggs.

Don found joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing on quiet waters, spending time at the beach soaking in God's creation, and participating actively in church events that brought him closer to both community and faith. His greatest pleasure was his ministry through cooking on the grill for others while sharing the love of Christ.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Blanchard, located at 201 Attaway Street, with a reception to follow at the church.

Though he has departed this earthly life, Don's legacy endures through the lives he touched with kindness and faith. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
