Don (Captain) Dupont ,age 74, of Shreveport passed away peacefully Sunday December 4. A memorial service will be held in March 2023. Information to be disclosed at a later date.

Don had a lifelong connection with the river and bayous. He worked as a commercial fisherman for Dupont Fish Market as a young man. He also took great pride in being Captain of the River Rose. He was a skilled mechanic and loved to race cars, motorcycles and boats. He had a great reputation at the many dirt tracks in the south. His number 05 will be remembered.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Elzia and Dan Dupont, Sister Vallie Dupont, Brother Paul Dupont, Brother Benjamin Dupont, Brother-in-law Billy Wynn Sr. Nephews Dell Ray Pierce, Justin Fricks, Phillip Fricks Jr, Cody Wynn and great Niece Kady Harville.

He is survived by his children Sandra Brudvik (Tomas) and Julie Dupont Gillespie (Ryan) and their mother Debbie Stamps Johnston. Grandchildren Juni Wiger, Vilde Kjærsdalen, Trym Wiger, Storm Brudvik, Jessie (Sarah) Tønnessen Layton and Travis Tønnessen. Great Grandchildren Maria, Jonas, Adelén, Embla and Hedda.

Sisters Julie Wynn, Dianne (Gene) Harville, Mary (Dale) Harville, Linda (Clifford) Bickham, Fay (Richard) Allen, Shelia (Steve) Evans, Debbie Dupont, and Brother Daniel (Jackie) Dupont and wife Jane Wetherington.

Don loved spreading great stories and laughter with friends and family. He will be missed.
