IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane Cecile
Simmons Lawrence
June 21, 1940 – February 27, 2022
Diane Cecile Simmons Lawrence was born on June 21, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to parents, Coila Redding Simmons and Victor G. Simmons, Jr. Following an extended illness, she passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 in the CU unit of Ochsner Hospital surrounded by her family.
Diane's adult life was spent in Shreveport. She graduated from Byrd High School where she enjoyed her years in the Byrd band and had the honor of being selected Band Queen during that time. Diane loved music. For many years she was blessed to be a member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church adult choir and more recently the choir of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. As a young adult, Diane was excited about The Lawrence Welk shows. She made several trips to his concerts with backstage passes to meet and greet his Company. Her enjoyment of movies led to her to a walk on part in Steel Magnolias.
One of the most outstanding times in her life was her employment at the Northwest Louisiana Nephrology Clinic in Shreveport. The physicians and staff were more like family than an employer. There is no way to fully express the gratitude and appreciation she felt for these individuals.
Diane was the proud mother of daughter Carolyn Joan Lawrence, son David Lawrence, Jr. and wife Stacey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sonny Simmons. She is survived by her children and a host of friends. A special thanks to Aulds Funeral Home for their personal service and assistance. Visitation and Remembrance will be April 3, 2022 at 2:00pm at St. Marks' Episcopal Church Parlor.
