Obituary

Dena Renee Gordy

Dena was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to CD and LaNelle Gordy. She graduated from Southwood High School and worked with the Bossier School board for a number of years before moving to Youngstown, Ohio to live close to her daughter, Kelsey. There, she worked as a manager at Goodwill where she loved her job and the people. Although she lived in Ohio, she was proud of her Louisiana heritage, loved her LSU Tigers and often wore purple and gold. Her greatest love, however, was for her daughters and her grandchildren. She was known as Gammy by those who loved her the most.

She carried a little prayer book with her at all times and often shared verses. One of her favorites was for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16) Although Dena has passed on, she will live on forever in our hearts. Dena was the sweetest soul that any of us knew and her greatest attribute was her way of seeing the positive in absolutely everything and everyone.

Dena was preceded in death by her parents, CD and LaNelle Gordy and her sister, Debra. Survived by her brother, Larry Gordy and his wife, Carol; her daughter, Kari Williamson and husband, Wade and daughter, Kelsey Raisky and husband, Chris; Beloved Grandchildren, Isaiah, Anthony, Christian, Kali and Theo.; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
