Obituary

David Stanley, 72, passed on Saturday, September 5, 2015 after a lengthy illness. David was born in Sprague, West Virginia on November 20, 1942 to Talmadge and Marjorie Stanley. He was a proud Air Force veteran, receiving many awards and accolades during his enlistment. He moved to Wilmington, Delaware, married his first wife, Barbara McWilliams and had a son, James Stanley. In 1980, He moved to the Shreveport/Bossier area with his son. He began his career at Chevyland, where he would retire with more than 20 years of devoted service. In 1992, with his second wife, Crystal, he welcomed his second son, Patrick to the world. Though he kept his circle of friends small, those who knew him always knew of his great knowledge and clever wit. He always had tales to tell, jokes and bits of uncommon knowledge that made everyone think. He loved to make you smile. He was devoted to his friends. He would go out of his way to make them feel comforted, help you paint a room, take down a tree or just bring you a beer. From fishing trips to car shows, he enjoyed the company of his family and friends. If you passed his home, he could be seen in the rocking chair out front, watching birds and waving at friends as they passed by. He is survived by his sons, James and Patrick, His brother Ken, Sister Linda, friends Jeannie Lane with daughters Kellie and Tracey, David and Janie Cupp and many more that he considered more of a family than just friends.
