IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Wayne
Skipper
October 15, 1964 – July 29, 2022
David Wayne Skipper was born to the late David Earl Skipper and Jesse Pilley Skipper, in Winnfield, LA on October 15, 1964. He passed away from this life at the age of 57, holding the hand of his son's mother, his best friend, peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on July 29, 2022. Wayne led a very accomplished life with little more than an eighth-grade education. Wayne used his hands to make a living. He worked in the oilfield, carpentry, auto and diesel mechanics, construction, and as a heavy equipment operator. Some people would even call him a jack of all trades. For the last seven years he has worked with his brother in lawn care maintenance.
Wayne was a strong believer in his country and represented the American flag proudly. He loved socializing; Wayne never met a stranger anywhere he went. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends, playing dice, cards, and being outdoors. At any given time of the day or night you could pass by his house and he would be sitting outside in the swing. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents David and Jesse Skipper, both sets of grandparents, his beloved sister Judy Skipper Delony, and his precious nephew Mark Hughes, Jr. (Bubba).
Wayne will be loved always, remembered and missed by his son Robert Wayne Skipper; life friend Ashlie Sellers; step son B.J. Courtney and partner Ashley Adkins; step daughter Jessica Courtney (his Jesse Besse) and partner Tony Barnett; brother Robert Skipper and wife Kathy; two nieces Rebecca Trammel and husband Chris and Amanda Skipper; sisters Susan Lawson; nephew B.J Lawson; niece Barbara Lawson; sister Barbara Reed and husband Roy; two nieces Dana Hughes and Kristy Hughes; nephew Jay Hughes; 14 grandchildren and one great grand daughter who were all the light of his eyes. He is also survived by many precious cousins and friends who were like family to him.
We would like to invite family and friends to join us for a celebration of life, lunch and visitation at Longstraw Baptist Church at 1799 Styles Ranch Road (Parish Rd 223) in Choudrant, Louisiana 71227 on August 5, 2022 from 12 noon until 2pm.
