David Monroe Self, affectionately known as "Dabo" to his family, passed away on April 1, 2025 at home, in Blanchard, Louisiana, at the age of 65 due to complications from liver cancer.

Born on February 20, 1960, in DeRidder, Louisiana, David was an avid hunter, and a cherished member of the Self family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Reva Smith Self; his father, Charlie Monroe Self; and his sisters Charlotte Jane Self and Betty Lou Honley.

He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Self Robinson and Patricia Self Red. David also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held him close to their hearts and lovingly called him "Dabo."
